Post by Michelle » Wed Feb 15, 2012 12:32 pm

I am trying to merge 2 applique designs. The designs are overlapping and the overlapped stitches are not being removed. What am I doing wrong

There are two things to consider. One, remove overlapping stitching must be checked in preferences. And, two, you won't see the results until you save the stitch file and open it back up. The stitch file will have the overlaps removed. The working file will retain the original stitches.

Overlapping stitches are only removed for fill stitches. Appliques do not use fill so there are no stitches that can be removed.

I assumed that we were talking about the satin stitching around the appliqué. The overlapping satin stitching does get removed.

I have tried doing the same also, and its not trimming it out. I have saved it, closed it out, and reopened, but the overlap is still there. Please let me know what I can do to fix this.
