Importing Thread Colors

I have a brand new Bernina 580E. I have created an EXP file and my machine recognizes it, but none of the thread colors came over. I searched a bit in this forum and read that the EXP+ format includes thread color. Is there something I am doing incorrectly - i.e. should I not be saving as EXP - or is it possible my machine does not recognize EXP+ data?
