Even if you don’t have snow outside, you can stitch up this cute snowman for some winter embroidery projects! The fringed scarf provides just a hint of 3D details – and I just had a neat idea that this could be a fun place to use variegated thread for even more interest in the design!
For those of you in the StitchArtist Digitizing Fans group on Facebook, there are a few different video clips in the Units that show some of the different techniques of this design – moving the starts and stop, curved fills, adding the shading to the mittens and then creating the fringe. The curved fill and Fringe stitch type are part of StitchArtist L2.
Above you can see that we have changed the pattern of the fill stitch to be ZigZag to give the scarf some texture. Setting this patterned fill to be curved now gives the object a bit of motion as if it really were a wrapped winter knit scarf! Adding the fringe at the end continues this whimsical flow of the design.
