Do I need CIM?

Hi, I'm new to Embrilliance and I'm trying to figure out if I need CIM also. I have Embrilliance and thumbnailer so what is the benefit of having CIM also, do I really need it, is there a benefit in having both? can anyone explain it please? Thank you.
