Adding fonts and designs

Post by magnoliagrits » Mon May 05, 2014 5:00 pm

I'm brand new, but I'm totally frustrated. Are we only able to use the fonts that come with it or can be bought through embrilliance? I thought I could import the fonts and designs I already have. Please help me get rolling!!!

You can use the built in fonts that come with Essentials and also the Font pack 1 that is for sale at the Embrilliance Store to make text, names, or mongram designs in Essentials.

You can merge in your Alphabet letter stitch files from digitized Alphabets you have purchased or download free and also any other types of digitized embroidery design stitch files that you have purchased or downloaded for free to make designs with in Essentials.

I would suggest to you to look at the various Videos on how to use Essentials at the link below and also read through the 2 pages in this Tips Section for Essentials for more information.

This Video show how easy it is to merge in any type of digitized Stitch File such as a design or Alphabet letters that you may already have.

More help is available by clicking on Help when you have Essentials open and there is a Manual on the Download page that you can download and print off.
The Manual is a PDF file that can be downloaded for the Windows version or the Mac Version on the link below.

Just to clarify, you still need Alpha Tricks to get the fonts purchased into Embrilliance, correct? I know how to merge file's and select each letter I want to create a design. I have done this. If I find a vendor that will send me a bx file, can I import that into Embrilliance without Alpha Tricks?

Yes you would need Alpha Tricks in order to use the bx files of an Alphabet.
The bx files are pre mapped files of letters from a purchased Alphabet .
You just drop or drag the bx files onto the open working window and they install into Alpha Tricks.
This allows you to use your keys on your Keyboard to just type the letters on your computer keyboard to make text or names or monogram designs
With Alpha Tricks you can also manually map any purchased or free downloaded Alphabet stitch files that come in the normal embroidery formats such as pes, hus, vip, jef, dst, xxx etc.
Mapping doesn't take long at all as there are quick keys to use for mapping the letters.

In the Alpha Tricks Section on this Forum under Tips and Techniques there is a list of Vendors that now offer the bx files for their digitized Alphabets.

Just to clarify.

If you have a BX file -- this can be added to ANY of the Embrilliance platform programs - Essentials, AlphaTricks, Enthusiast or DRK

If you have an alphabet design collection in a stitch file format - not BX but rather PES, HUS, JEF etc - in order to use it as a keyboard font, you would need AlphaTricks in order to do this.

In short - BX files are premapped alphabets and can be added to any Embrilliance Platform program. To create a mapped font from embroidery designs like PES, you need AlphaTricks.

Hope this makes sense!

I just purchased an appliqué Font design that is not in the BX format. I know I can use each letter separately in Embrilliance by dropping and dragging. But how do I import all the letters into the Font area of Embrilliance so it shows in my font drop down menu? Can i do this with non BX fonts? If so, please advise how i can do this. Thanks,

You have to have bx files to get them in 'the list'. The product, Alphaworks will burn fonts into bx fonts I believe.

AlphaTricks will allow you to import the font and map it to the keyboard and adding it to the font list. Learn more about AlphaTricks here:
