Is it possible to take a chunky font and split it across the middle to add a word in the gap, like we can do with vinyl projects
Like this

The font doesn't need to be so decorative just be able to be split for appliqué

If you want to split an Appliques letter you will have to split the different layers of stitches, the fabric position stitch layer, the tack down stitch layer, and the final stitch layer.
If you want to split a satin stitch letter or a fill stitch letter then it would be easier.

You could try using the method of splitting a design that is shown in the video link below.

Remember to place tie off stitches where needed in all layers or your letter will far apart after stitching..

To make the bar that runs across the bottom of the top half of the letter and the top of the bottom part of the split letter you might be able to use a hyphen that comes in one of the built in Alphabets of Essentials or any mapped in font or bx font that has punctuation included that you may have.
Copy and paste it until you have a bar line the size you need.

Let us know if this works for you as I am sure others will be interested in trying this!

As a side note there are Digitizers that sell individual split letters or full sets of split alphabet letters for Applique embroidery and also Regular embroidery which may be much easier.

There are Split Applique Fonts at the following websites that you may want to have a look at.
The ones at Rivermills and 8 Claws and a Paw should include the BX Files for the letters.
