Hi,

It’s been a while since we’ve posted a new version. This latest adds some exciting new technology we’re trying out:

–We are extending the Remove Hidden Stitches feature to include applique!

When a design has colors using the old Brother applique nomenclature, or if you manually change an object name in the Object Tree to “Applique Pos.” or “Applique Mat.”, the program interprets those colors as applique steps.

Sometimes it is desirable to keep the color as it was set, but still flag the color as Applique, so you can also do that by right-clicking on the color chip in the Color Properties (where you normally left-click to change the color).

Once a position or material flag is set, those colors will not be affected by RHS because that would interfere with your ability to place and tack down the applique.

In order to better allow overlapped appliques though, we wanted the RHS to work on any topstitching that would lie under any applique. So applique position colors are now treated as if they were filled with stitches for the RHS. This means that whatever build-up under that applique would have been, it is now only going to be a few stitches or less. You may see some jumps and there will probably be a run so that the topstitches can get from side to side of the covering applique.

Note for the purposes of the software we look at titles on objects “appliqu” followed by “pos” or “mat”. We tend not to use the accented e because it is a character that makes files not so portable between Mac and Windows. And you can use “position” but why type it all? So type what you want, is what we’re saying.

–Another new feature: basting split designs

We have added an option, found in the preferences, to add a basting box around each design that is saved from a Split for multi-position hoop. In order to preserve the offset from center needed to make a split design line up, we usually use a jump at the end of the design. Now the alternate method is a basting box, which is its own color layer after the alignment basting stitches. This color you can use for topping stabilizers, or skip if you want.

–A Commercial Feature: nested runs

Most of our users want the jumps trimmed, and space between letters to be trimmed. Commercial users want the stitches that are close to be nested running stitches, as it takes less time for their machines. To try to accomplish this for both user types, and in a universal way, we’ve added it as a Preference under Files.

–Exposing an old feature: Viking trims (.VP3)

For some older Viking machines, the trim command was not automatic. The solution for those people was to use the old Organizer to set trim commands. As many people are not upgrading, but need that feature, we’ve added it as a preference to the conversion so that Trim commands get inserted on Jumps.

–Two small bug-fixes for Express Mode

Express mode users were getting length limiters, which they couldn’t turn off. Now they are not getting those limiters.

Some of the new BX fonts were made using characters that could not be used on OSX so we remove those so the fonts work nicely on first install, without re-running.

That’s it for today. Share this with your friends, don’t forget to ‘Like’ the facebook.com/embrilliance page, and Happy Sewing!
