Print Worksheet Issues

New versions fix things and add features. This will document those changes. If you had a Feature Request and we have implemented it, we've moved the topic here for posterity.

Print Worksheet Issues

Postby IdaQ » Thu Jan 13, 2011 7:56 pm

When printing a design the design thumbnails next to the color selections are too small and light to see. It also seems as if the design thumb nail colors do match its corresponding color. In addition the spacing for the columns in the printed version is off. When I save the document as a pdf the spacing is fine. I am assuming this must have something to do with the margins on the printer. I am using a Brother MFC-6490CW.

I tried attaching a scanned version to this post, but pdf extensions are not allowed.

I think you may be confusing the grayed-out sections of the design with the actual color. The icon on the print out has only the actual color-portion of that design in full color. It is up against a grayed out version of the rest of the design for placement. This is a screenshot from an actual PDF:

The only alternative is to scale up the colored-part of the design to fill the box. In which case you have usually got an unrecognizable shape of some color. In the example above, you would actually see 'A' in the first box. That works as long as the shape is recognizable.

We orginally left out this and just put the color box, but this was a requested element. Anyone care to comment on its usefulness? We are not sure either, but many other programs do it exactly this way, or have no indication of where the color is in the design.

When I save the document as a pdf the spacing is fine.

If there are any print issues, send us a screenshot where a pdf can't illustrate it. If you want to post it, a jpeg will do, and you should be able to upload images into these posts.

It is entirely possible for printer margins to affect something. If we have something to work with, we can see if it needs adjustment, or a user preference. Then again, sometimes printer drivers don't feed back the page information correctly. In either event, we need something to work with.

Don't forget you can use the contact us, or send it to the [info at embrilliance.com] address, which we don't write normally because of the spammers.

I was actual referring to the color portion of the design. Below is a screen shot of a pdf of my design. Look at the 3rd color. The color is brown but the selection shows blue.

I will also email you the scanned version of the print out so you can see the margin/spacing issue.

In reference to the usefulness of the thumbnail image with the color selection, I think it is only useful if you can see it. Personally, I would rather have that function in the software versus the printed worksheet. This was posted as an Enhancement Request already. I was using 3D Embroidery Software and it had this function. It was very useful when you wanted to change a color. You could see where it was being used in the design.

That feature already exists. Select the color in the Object tree. You can even turn off everything else from view or grey out everything else.
Also, in version 1.03 the printing has been updated so please give that a try! Cheers!
