Our own Erich Campbell once offered a wonderful light-stitching rendition of the one and only Statue of Liberty for our July 4th festivities, but it never managed to make it to the project blog! We decided to remedy that and re-share his engraving-style depiction of Lady Liberty supported by the stars and stripes in this post. Though it was created as and comes with directions for a retro, vintage-styled felt patch application, you can use this decoration anywhere you like!
In the files linked below, you’ll learn the process to take this simple, light running design to create a stunning, raw-edged felt patch. In order to keep the design light and pliable, the white stripes have been left as open ground, so we suggest running this design on a white fabric substrate.

For the purposes of this project, we used a standard, widely available polyester felt with a single layer of cutaway stabilizer, cutting the simple patch by hand to leave a small felt reveal. This patch would look great on any patriotic apparel or accessory you want to wear for your Independence Day celebration!
Grab the file below and get your Lady Liberty gear started! Inside the linked zip are project instructions as well as the Embrilliance .BE file you’ll need to save the design into almost any stitch file format.
