Spruce up your decor for the holidays with this In The Hoop (ITH) coaster and ornament set from our friend, Lisa Shaw. Lisa created her designs using two of our Interactives; the Christmas Traditions design collection and PatchArtist. Though we’ll show you how she created the lovely designs linked below, you can use any of our programs, including the Embrilliance Platform’s free Express mode, to save them into your machine’s format.

For those interested in how this design was created, we created a video showing the process from start to finish.  After a quick display of Christmas Traditions’ snowflake generator, Lisa shows how to add a patch edge using the automatic page wrap tool from PatchArtist. Lisa then copies and tweaks the patch edge to create the elements needed to add a fabric backing. After all, it only takes a finished fabric back to make any patch design into a complete coaster!

If the free coaster design weren’t enough, Lisa used these tools to create a matching ornament design, too. She added an eyelet to her central design before using PatchArtist’s page wrap function to create the edge, making sure to move the eyelet design last in the sequence so that it stitches through all the layers.

In the above zipped file, we included both the coaster and the dated ornament design. The designs are provided in our native .BE format, enabling you to save a stitch file for any embroidery machine. If you aren’t already an Embrilliance owner, we provide a free method to use our software called Express Mode that will not only allow you to use any of the wonderful free designs found in our project blog, but also enables you to install and create basic text treatments with fonts distributed in our popular .BX format produced by many embroidery design creators.
