Our own Lisa Shaw created this design for all winter-loving stitchers using Embrilliance’s StitchArtist Level 3. It’s perfect to embellish gift towels for the holiday, with a winter theme that lets it stay in use even after the new year! Though this started as a topic for her weekly Facebook broadcast, Afterhours with Lisa, it was so beloved that she couldn’t help but give her fans the free design here in the Embrilliance project blog! If you’d like to learn how she made this design, visit her SewBubbles Facebook page to catch a replay of the broadcast, if you just want to get stitching, scroll down to find the project download below!
Lisa’s snowy adventure started with StitchArtist Level 3‘s ability to use and customize native fonts. She began by typing the word ‘SNOW’ in the Studio font from Font Collection 2. Stitch Artist Level 3 let her convert the lettering to native objects. Once she had those, the fills from this 2-color font were simple to change. Lisa converted these accent areas to motif fills, adding a backstitch outline to give them a bold, finished edge. The snowflake motif is from her previous project blog post that included 40 FREE additional motifs for StitchArtist. The motifs work well for runs as shown in that post, but here they serve as textured fills, which Lisa hinted could make wonderful treatments for custom ’embossed’ designs, too!
She could have stitched the SNOW design on its own, but Lisa knew that completing the phrase with contrasting cursive, handwritten style text would take the design over the top. Lisa created the script text using the ‘draw with points’ tool, assigning it a simple satin border stitch type with rounded end points.
