Continuing the Monthly Free Design Series with art from Sanqunetti Designs, our friend Lisa created an ‘April’ design for you to download! April showers may be in store, so this month is decorated with raindrops and an umbrella. We love the fun curved texture Lisa created using motifs in all of those decorative additions!

Many embroiderers prefer to float items on hooped stabilizer. As using straight pins to secure your item can weaken stabilizers, some prefer to use a ‘basting box’ to stitch their items down instead. Using Embrilliance Essentials, go to the menu and select Utility > Baste Design (as shown in this video from our Quick Tips Playlist) to create a basting box automatically. The basting box, once added, can be resized by simply grabbing a corner with your mouse and dragging it!

The basting box can also be used to ensure proper design placement. It quickly shows where the design will land, surrounding the stitch area with long, easily removable stitches before you stitch the main matter of the design. Running a basting box before your design helps you avoid having to pick out tons of difficult stitching if you are “off” in your postion. If the basting box isn’t where you expected, you simply stop, pick it out, and readjust for the right location before restarting your design. This video from our Embroidery Helpers playlist shows you this positioning technique as well as giving a tip on how to easily remove the basting box stitches!

The design is provided in our native .BE format, enabling you to save a stitch file for any embroidery machine. If you aren’t already an Embrilliance owner, we provide a free method to use our software called Express Mode that will not only allow you to use any of the wonderful free designs found in our project blog, but also enables you to install and create basic text treatments with fonts distributed in our popular .BX format produced by many embroidery design creators.
