Continuing the Monthly Free Design Series with art from Sanqunetti Designs, our friend Lisa created an ‘May’ design for you to download! Hopefully, we will see many May flowers (and less wind in Colorado), so this month is decorated with mini blooms. Be sure to check out the the post on February’s design to see how you can capture these and use them in other designs!

The View Menu

This month we’d like you to investigate the View menu. They are structured very similarly under both Windows and Mac, and feature the same key functions.

Many Embrilliance users are unaware that the views in Embrilliance are customizable. Sadly many people discover accidentally that clicking the X in the upper right corner of your properties pane will close it. If you accidentally close your properties pane, leaving you without the usual view of colors and objects in the object tree or the lettering and tools in the lower pane, your easiest way to get it back is to reset your view. On Windows, this is done through the View → Toolbars and Windows…. Reset function. In the Mac version of the view menu, the same rest function is available under the Manage Viewsmenu. Check out this video to see it in action!

Toggling Jump Stitches

One of the other handy abilities of the View menu is toggling jump stitch visibility in a design. Jumps are designated by dashed lines and are “invisible” if toggle them off. You can activate the toggle under View Jumps or by pressing the ‘j’ key. Jumps are necessary to move your needle between disconnected objects of the same color, and depending on your settings and machine configuration, may be trimmed automatically. If you see what seems to be a long, connecting stitch in a design that shows up as a solid line and doesn’t disappear when jumps are toggled off, it is not seen by the software or machine as a jump. Check out this video to better understand what you are seeing in the software.

The design is provided in our native .BE format, enabling you to save a stitch file for any embroidery machine. If you aren’t already an Embrilliance owner, we provide a free method to use our software called Express Mode that will not only allow you to use any of the wonderful free designs found in our project blog, but also enables you to install and create basic text treatments with fonts distributed in our popular .BX format produced by many embroidery design creators.
